![]() ![]() Full of grungy guitar soloing and piano undertones, this Vancouver based duo is one of the bands we feel is definitely worth watching out for in 2016! That said, it was not the radio single but rather a groovy song entitled “ Island Life” off of the same EP which caught our attention late in the year. an appearance as a representative Canadian band on the final SØNAR of the year, The Zolas have been ripping up the radio airwaves here in Canada for most of 2015 with their track “ Molotov Girls”. Needless to say, we were impressed with the new album when it dropped mid-September. Described by some as experimental dance music, he is bending the boundaries of a few genres and creating a new sound that has future music written all over it. Through the use of midi interfaces, drum loops, keyboards, laptops, musical samples, and even gaming controllers he is effectively able to mix his own music live on stage. ![]() A favorite of GRAyDIO’s for some time now, Delong continually delivers a unique approach to danced-up electro alternative rock. ![]() first Song of the Week in August this year went to Los Angeles based electro-rocker Robert DeLong. Genre: Alternative Rock / Indie Rock / Electronic Rock / Experimental Dance Despite not making a Song of the Week appearance this year, she remained a staple on a lot of playlists and was constantly considered for the SOTW title… And seeing as here at GRAyDIO we literally are part of the generation that was ‘ raised on Biggie and Nirvana’, we couldn’t not include this track as one of the best anthemic hits from 2015. Ultimately though, it was her release of ‘ Badlands’ in the late summer that literally blew up the internet resulting in a repeat appearance on the July SØNAR report with “ New Americana”. first caught our attention this year with her track “ Empty Gold” off of the ‘ Room 93 – EP’, which was featured on the first installment of the GRAyDIO SØNAR report back in May. So, with that said, and without further delay, we present to you the 2Ø15 FØUND SØUND CØUNT DØWN A collection of really good new music from 2Ø15. There is even some interesting genre representation as we truly believe all music has a place on GRAyDIO! There are some hidden gems in here as well as some songs which ultimately did make it onto a lot of 2015 playlists worldwide. Over the past 15 days votes have streamed in over Twitter, Facebook, and E-mail telling us who you wanted to hear more of and who you loved hearing for the first time on GRAyDIO this year! We tallied em all up, sorted them out based on our own personal favorites, and put the top contenders on this list! It wouldn’t be completely fair to launch into a brand new year of exciting and interesting new music without at least paying respect to some of the 2015 GRAyDIO best picks! Over the course of this past year some amazing new artists have emerged along with some old classics spinning new tunes worth mention. Mission accomplished! In 2015 GRAyDIO debuted 110 songs from 96 different artists that spanned the globe and came to us from every continent! Music was discovered on multiple platforms and from a variety of diverse genres, and the GRAyDIO family grew from only a few followers to almost 1000 strong!
